In South Carolina our Court of unlimited criminal jurisdiction is called General Sessions. If you are charged with a Lexington SC Felony or serious misdemeanor your case will be prosecuted in the Lexington County Court of General Sessions.

When you appear in Lexington County Bond Court you will be given the date and time of your First Appearance in writing. You must appear on this date with your Criminal Defense Attorney. If you fail to appear a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest.

If you were instructed to appear in General Sessions this means that you have been charged with either a Felony or a Major Misdemeanor under South Carolina law and you are facing substantial jail or prison time.

The majority of criminal cases in this Court are prosecuted by the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor's Office. Some cases may be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General's Office or prosecutor's offices.
