Here at the Law Office of James R. Snell, we're very thankful to be in the midst of a busy summer season. Every client who walks through our door gets our full attention, and whenever we can help ease the stress of the legal process, we are reminded why we love what we do. I know Jim better than anyone, and I can tell you, he takes great pride in providing assistance to the wonderful people of our community. We may not really dip into fall temperatures until November, but there is one huge thing that arrives at the end of every August that means it might as well be fall. Anyone who lives in and around Lexington knows what I'm talking about. That, of course, is college football, by far the biggest sport in South Carolina. Every year, as soon as the season starts, it feels like that's all anyone in town can talk about — not that I'm ... CONTINUE READING

I wish I could tell you that I have some thrilling Christmas plans this year, but that would be a lie. Maybe it’s a relic from growing up with parents who worked at a grocery store, but I mostly remember the holidays as a hectic time. For them, the holidays were peak business hours and it was all hands on deck at the store, often including my own.
I recently returned from a wedding in Rockford, Illinois. It was a great experience, but I couldn't resist talking about the law with the groom. You see, before I went to law school, I worked briefly in IT, where I met the future groom. We stayed in touch, and he (foolishly) followed my lead into law school.
Though we're all looking forward to moving into the new office, we've been lucky enough to close out our old one with some big successes. Vicki has recently resolved a number of six–figure personal injury cases, including one for over $300,000.

2017 wrapped up very nicely for us, and we're only looking to build on our success in the coming year. In the past few months, we've had cases in 31 of South Carolina's 46 counties. We also were able to help clients earn over $1 million in settlements at the tail end of last year alone. So much for a slow season!

Last month in the newsletter, I was happy to announce the groundbreaking of our new building on Main Street. Construction is proceeding nicely, and the space is now starting to look like a building. Recently, the roof went up, which feels like a big step. Obviously, we are super excited about the prospects of the new building.

Though I grew up in Spartanburg, South Carolina, my family has a long history in Lexington. I always knew my parents were from this area and my grandparents hailed from Gilbert and West Columbia. What I didn't know until I began practicing law here is that my ties to the area stretch back much further than that.
