As experienced criminal defense lawyers, we understand how important it is for people to get a second chance. Whether you have made a mistake, or are falsely accused, we want to vigorously defend your rights, your reputation and your freedom.

Our attorneys, staff, along with the other professionals we employ on behalf of our clients, work together to help our client’s achieve their goals. We know that just being arrested is chaotic enough; your defense team should be organized, efficient, and effective.

Spartanburg Roots

We are a criminal defense law-firm with significant ties to the Spartanburg area. Attorney Jim Snell (Spartanburg Day School) and our office manager Lee Snell (Dorman) are both from Spartanburg. Spartanburg is home for us. We never charge additional fees for travel or mileage to handle a case in Spartanburg.

Spartanburg Criminal Defense Cases

Many times law enforcement makes an arrest based on incorrect or incomplete information. Because of this we always include a review of the police investigation with our client as part of their case, and frequently also include services of a defense investigator (not law enforcement, but someone working for the best interest of our client).

We have assisted defendant in Spartanburg with cases including:

  • Driving Under the Influence
  • Domestic Violence
  • Pointing & Presenting a Firearm
  • Assault
  • Violation of Restraining Order
  • Solicitation
  • Criminal Sexual Conduct w/ a Minor
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • General Sessions level Drug Possession
  • Strong-Armed Robbery
  • Unlawful Use of the Telephone
  • Shoplifting

Sheriff’s Department DV Cases

If you were charged with any level domestic violence case by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Department it will be prosecuted in General Sessions. This is different than in other counties where lower-level offenses are prosecuted in magistrate court.

The difference with this is that many DV 3rd cases are in General Sessions. Defendants have to attend “roll call” with felony defendants and the same court procedures and time-lines applicable to cases like drug trafficking or child molestation apply.

If you have a DV charge in General Sessions we can help you lift a no-contact bond restriction. Do not risk a return to jail by violating any condition of your bond.

Spartanburg DUI Defense

If you are charged with a DUI in Spartanburg you should understand that prosecutions and punishment can be more severe than in other parts of the state. For this reason it is even more important to have an accurate defense.

James Snell is a published author in the field of South Carolina DUI law. He has argued DUI cases before the state Court of Appeals, and has set legal precedent which applies in every DUI case today.

Our attorneys are members of the National College for DUI Defense, and have completed training in police DUI techniques, including field sobriety testing and breathalyzer machines.

Contact us if you need help with:

  • 1st Offense DUI
  • DUI with Leaving the Scene
  • Felony DUI
  • Non-Alcohol DUI Defense
  • Sleep Driving \ Ambien Driving Defense

We have a step-by-step system to help give our clients charged with any DUI. The strategies we employ can assist you if you refused the breath test, or provided a high-level sample. If you are charged with any DUI, you should not go to court without first consulting with an attorney.

Spartanburg County Detention Center

If your loved one is an inmate the Spartanburg County Detention Center (located on California Avenue), you can arrange for an attorney from our office to visit with them in-person by calling (803) 359-3301. Appointments are on a paid basis only. Free appointments are available for those able to meet with us in-person in our main office.

Federal Court Defense

Our attorneys are admitted to practice in both state and federal court. Authorities do not begin an investigation unless they suspect a crime has been committed. Even if you are innocent, once investigators begin interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence they are building a case against you. We can advise you of the best way to respond. Simply put, your entire future, freedom, and professional standing may be on the line.
