South Carolina's main cocaine possession law applies for charges of less than one gram. For a first offense, it carries up to three years' imprisonment, for a second offense up to five years, and for a third and subsequent offense up to ten years. In addition to the possible term of incarceration the court can assess a fine ranging from over $5,000 for a first offense to over $12,500 for a third offense.
