Rachel Jones
About
Rachel Jones is a Lexington, South Carolina native who brings experience in both law enforcement and the local court system to her role as a paralegal with the Law Office of James R. Snell, Jr., LLC.
Rachel attended Gray Collegiate Academy and developed an interest in the legal field through her work with law enforcement and the courts. Before joining the firm, she served as a dispatcher for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. In that position, Rachel received calls from members of the public, dispatched law enforcement officers, and coordinated communications involving fish and wildlife matters as well as other law enforcement activity.
Her work with DNR also required regular coordination with other law enforcement agencies, including the Lexington County Sheriff's Department. This experience gave Rachel firsthand familiarity with how officers and agencies communicate and respond when members of the public need law enforcement assistance.
Rachel later worked as a court clerk for the Lexington County Magistrate Court. She was assigned to the Lexington County Domestic Violence Court, where she assisted with cases involving Third Degree Domestic Violence and related charges.
Her responsibilities with the Magistrate Court also included assisting with preliminary hearings, bond court, traffic court, and DUI court. Through this work, Rachel interacted regularly with Lexington County magistrate judges, law enforcement officers, prosecutors, defense attorneys, other court personnel, defendants, and members of the public.
After gaining experience with both law enforcement and the court system, Rachel wanted to continue her career in a law office where she could work more directly with people facing legal matters. She joined the Law Office of James R. Snell, Jr., LLC as a paralegal and now assists the firm's attorneys and clients throughout their cases.
Rachel especially enjoys the client-focused aspect of her work. She understands that dealing with a criminal charge or other legal matter can involve unfamiliar procedures and many questions. She enjoys helping clients navigate the process, communicating with them about their cases, and assisting the attorneys in moving each case forward.
As someone who grew up in Lexington and has worked within the local criminal justice system, Rachel is proud to continue her career serving clients in Lexington and the surrounding communities.
